Computerization at BRTA
DTCB has signed a contract agreement with DCL-CMG Consortium, a joint venture of the local leading ICT Company MIS. Daffodil Computers Ltd and another ICT Company CMG, Malaysia Bangladesh for computerization works for automation and modernization of their activities of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The project has been executed and supervised by Dhaka Transport Coordination Board (DTCB) under Ministry of communication and funded by World Bank. Expatriates from Malaysia are working with DCL experts in DCL.

Project and area of operation
The project is a total ICT solution for Bangladesh Road Transport Authority under Ministry of Communication. BRTA-IS project is the full computerization of BRTA’s Admin. Operation and Financial activities of all Vehicle, road and transport related activities. Daffodil has made a joint venture with Malaysia’s leading CT Company 0MG group to perform this project. This is the first biggest computerization project that covers total IOT solution for a govt. department in Bangladesh.

Solution to be provided DCL-CMG Consortium will perform software development, networking, installation of computer and peripherals, provide training to BRTA officials and maintenance of the system during the four years of project period. By starting the operation of this computer system, BRTA’s Technical, Operational and administrative activities will come under computer database for their about 41 different offices in the country including the head office. Different tasks of BRTA like testing of vehicles, issues of registration certificate, issue of route permit, transfer of vehicle, issue of drivers license etc. will be ease and faster after implementing the computerized system.

Brief description of the total setup (hardware and software)
A brief description of total setup of HW & SW is as follows:

a. Total PC/ Workstation to be install 103 nos. Compaq PC at 41 different locations
b. Total Printers to be install 13 nos. HP LJ-81 50 printer and 31 nos.
c. Network Setup (LAN) Local Area Network at 8 offices/location with 6 Compaq Server
d. Network Setup(WAN) Wide Area Network, which will be connected with 41 locations (districts) including at 8 LAN system with 2 IBM 440 Server
e. database system Various modules will be developed with Oracle 9i database which run under Open UNIX 8.0 environment
f. Internet / Intranet Two intranet Server run and the system will partly be web-based
g The System It’s a three-tire architecture system which will Have hardware/software security, back-up system by mirroring and will use HP’s DLT drive and one HP’s Juke box for data preserve
